In a gritty Unrivaled league matchup, Rose BC secured a 71-63 victory over Mist BC, improving to 3-4, while Mist dropped to 2-5. The game was defined by rebounding dominance and defensive intensity, with Angel Reese setting the tone early after a physical entanglement with Breanna Stewart in the first quarter. Despite her recent Met Gala committee selection, Reese wasted no time rolling up her sleeves, finishing with 12 points, 12 rebounds (6 offensive), and a game-high defensive presence.
Kahleah Copper continued her scoring tear, finishing with 21 points and 9 rebounds, marking her second straight game surpassing 20 points. Her consistency has been a driving force for Rose BC, providing much-needed offense in a game where three-point shooting was abysmal (Rose BC: 2-14, 14.3%; Mist BC: 1-10, 10%).
The real battle took place in the paint, where Rose BC dominated the boards, out-rebounding Mist 43-30. Azurá Stevens proved to be a secret weapon, coming off the bench to contribute 15 points on 6-9 shooting and 9 rebounds in just 7 minutes of action.
On the other side, Rickea Jackson led Mist BC with 17 points and 7 rebounds, while DiJonai Carrington stepped up offensively with 10 points and 8 rebounds, proving she’s more than just a defensive specialist. However, Jewell Loyd struggled to find her rhythm, finishing with just 8 points on 4-11 shooting in 8 minutes.
A major disappointment for Mist BC was Breanna Stewart’s struggles at the free-throw line. The veteran forward, typically reliable from the stripe, had an off night, shooting a poor percentage from the line.
With Copper’s offensive firepower and Rose BC’s control of the boards, this victory signals a potential shift in momentum as they look to climb up the standings. Meanwhile, Mist BC will need to regroup and find a way to spark their offense as they continue their Unrivaled season campaign.
